& Mary C. Weisenburger as they realized their dream of writing, staging, and producing their original musical masterpiece based on the biblical book of Acts.
“Acts, the musical” opened on the stage at St. John the Baptist School Gymnasium in Alden, NY on Friday, June 1, 1990, to standing room only audiences.
The 2 women had formed a strong bond and friendship over the 6 week show period and that passion spilled into the cast and crew of over 40 people. It was in those moments that a committment to the Theater was born making it a way of life – and the Alden Christian Theatre Society was born.
Over the past 20 years ACTS has had a strong presence in the community and our membership continues to grow. ACTS stages 5 full-scale productions each year. And encourages membership from all age groups and demographics.
In addition, the all-volunteer organization offers live entertainment and other cultural opportunities for the community in our permanent home at 1470 Church Street.
Acts is a non profit organization and operates solely on support from our very dedicated sponsors and donations from the community. Through the tireless efforts of its volunteers, ACTS proudly continues its mission of Serving Through the Performing Arts.
In 2015 Kathy Sutter decided to step down from her years of community dedication and retire.
